A partnership between the luxury travel operator Captain’s Choice and Qantas Airways will bring back the Kangaroo Route in an extravagant 14-day tour from Sydney to London, stopping in several tourist cities along the way.
The Kangaroo Route was first launched in 1947 by Qantas itself. At the time, the route included stops in Darwin, Singapore, Calcutta, Karachi, Cairo, and Tripoli before reaching the British capital.
Captain’s Choice will follow a similar itinerary, with the trip starting on February 3, 2026. “I’ve wanted to recreate this iconic route for years,” says the CEO of the operator, Bas Bosschieter.
The new route has been dubbed the “Spirit of the Kangaroo Route.”

Travelers will board a chartered Qantas Airbus A330-300, with stops in Darwin, Singapore, Calcutta, Colombo, Cairo, Toulouse, and Rome, staying in luxury hotels and exploring the main tourist attractions of each place.
“The Kangaroo Route holds a special meaning for Australians. We like to create truly unique itineraries, and this one fits perfectly with our brand,” said Bosschieter.
Package prices start at $31,000 per person, including meals, drinks, flights, hotels, and much more.
Bosschieter told CNN that business class seats are already sold out. He also mentioned that they will only sell 150 of the 269 seats to provide more space for passengers.
